STABLE INSIGHTS – DUST SETTLES AT MAGICS

22 Jan 2026

Magics 2026 version was literally HOT, on the track and in the sales ring. Stable Connect AR’s were at the coalface and making their presence felt. Congratulations to all of our AR’s that had a crack – you’re the epicenter and so important to the health of the wider horse racing industry.

MAGICS YEARLING SALE

With the pressure of being the industry “mood-starter” for the year – the MM yearling sale was genuine, supported by a strong clearance rate and deep buying bench.

Stable Connect syndicators were active right in the heart of the market, securing quality yearlings across proven and emerging sires at prices that reflected both confidence and value.

Buying in the market’s sweet spot, Stable Connect AR’s were active participants;
 Price range of $17,000 - $625,000
 Core buying zone of $90,000 - $300,000
 47% colts and 53% fillies
 Median spend of $160,000
 Total spend in excess of $15M across 66 horses
 Mix of stallions with Ole Kirk leading the charge with 5 purchased.

Importantly, the majority of purchases sat at or below the overall sale average (approx.. $270,000), while still accessing:
• Proven commercial sires (Snitzel, I Am Invincible, Zoustar, Written Tycoon, Spirit Of Boom)
• Leading young stallions and first-season sires (Stay Inside, Ole Kirk, Farnan, Anamoe)
• Speed-oriented, early-running pedigrees aligned with Magic Millions racing

This reflects a strategy focused on commercial appeal, athleticism and racetrack opportunity, rather than chasing headline prices.

MAGICS RACEDAY – 10 OF THE BEST

With $13.25 million in prizemoney on offer, Magic Millions raceday once again proved that success isn’t reserved for the most expensive yearlings. The average winning purchase price of $157,100 reinforced the strength of the mid-market and the growing impact of syndicators on the biggest stage.

Ownership groups ranged from single owners through to syndicates of 20, proving that shared ownership continues to enhance access without compromising performance.

Three races on the Magic Millions card were won by AFSL holders of syndicated horses, highlighting the growing influence of syndication at the elite end of the sport.

A special mention and huge congratulations to our Stable AR winners;
BENNETT RACING with SNITZANOVA ($350,000 yearling) and PULSE RACING with KING OF ROSEAU ($95,000 yearling). We hope that you celebrated hard and enjoyed success on the big stage, well done!

Taken together, the sale and raceday outcomes delivered a consistent message:
• The mid-market is the engine room of the industry
• Discipline and preparation are being rewarded
• Syndicators remain critical participants in both sales and raceday success

We congratulate all of our AR’s that made purchases at Magics and hope that you enjoy strong demand for your horses.
