STABLE INSIGHTS – INGLIS CLASSIC A SWEETSPOT FOR SYNDICATORS

10 Feb 2026

Inglis Classic 2026 ticked all the boxes when it comes to the important markers of clearance, median, average relative to historical data. The racehorse syndicator cohort once again made their presence felt, buoyed by the willingness of many vendors to meet the market. With a very tight window for inspections and trade following the recent sales in Gold Coast and Karaka, the buying bench have done extremely well to simply show up and with such gusto.

INGLIS CLASSIC DEEP DIVE

Inglis Classic 2026 once again showed why it holds such an important place on the Australian bloodstock calendar. Honest trade, a deep buying bench and strong participation right through the catalogue reinforced Classic’s reputation as a sale where value and opportunity intersect.

Stable Connect ARs were very active participants right in the heart of the market, securing quality yearlings across proven and emerging sires at prices that reflected both confidence and value. The willingness for vendors to trade was reflected in a good clearance rate (83%) relative to prior years.

We wish all the Stable Connect AR’s who bought yearlings the very best for a rewarding racing career with a satisfied group of owners. In summary, as a group you smashed it;

* Price range of $20,000 - $300,000
* 34% colts and 66% fillies
* Median spend of $80,000 (sale $75k)
* Average spend of $97,610 (sale $97.6k)Total spend in excess of $4M across 41 horses
* Very diverse mix of stallions (30 in total) with Capitalist featuring again with 3 acquisitions. On the 10th anniversary of his Golden Slipper triumph, what a stallion he has been for the syndicator group.

Interestingly, the average spend was a replica of the wider sale with the median higher than the overall sale.
Also of note the pivot to fillies ahead of colts – is this a co-incidence or a realisation that residual value is important? For the syndication model to flourish, a steady reinvestment back into stock is important and selling fillies at the end of their racing career can certainly help.

We congratulate all of our AR’s that made purchases at Classic and we hope to see you all at the upcoming Melbourne Premier sale. Stable Connect will be holding a breakfast at Inglis Oaklands where we can offer greater insight and catch up in a relaxed environment. Details to come, please watch this space.
